How to convert BMP to JPG

  1. Drag your BMP files into the box above or click “Choose files” (folders and pasting from the clipboard work too).
  2. JPG is preselected as the output format; adjust quality, size and target file size if you like.
  3. Press “Start converting”; files are converted in your browser, in parallel.
  4. Download the files one by one or grab them all as a ZIP.

Why convert BMP to JPG?

JPG makes photographs much smaller and opens everywhere. It is the most practical choice for staying under the upload limits of forms, email and online shops.

BMP files are uncompressed, so converting usually shrinks them dramatically.

BMP is the native Windows bitmap format and usually uses no compression. JPG (JPEG) is the most widely used image format, built for photographs and based on lossy compression. It has no transparency; quality drops with each re-save, and sharp-edged graphics can show blur or ringing.

Tips for the best results

Privacy and security

Conversion runs entirely in your browser (using WebAssembly); your images are never uploaded to our server and never leave your device. The server only receives anonymous counters that contain no file names or content (source/target format, size, duration). Metadata such as location and camera details is always stripped from the output.

Frequently asked questions

Is converting BMP to JPG free?
Yes. The tool is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens in your browser and your files never leave your device. That also means large files are processed quickly regardless of your internet speed.
Is there any quality loss?
JPG is a lossy format, so a small quality loss is possible. Keep quality in the 80–90 range and the difference is usually invisible; you can set quality as you like.
How many files can I convert at once?
There is no fixed limit; you can add hundreds of files or drag in a folder. Speed depends on your device: on multi-core processors files are processed in parallel. You can download all results as a single ZIP.
