Reduce Image Size to a Specific KB

To get a photo under a KB limit, enter the target size (for example 100 KB); the tool adjusts quality and, if needed, resolution automatically. Your file never leaves your device.

Drop, choose or paste files above to get started.

You can set a separate format, quality and size for each file.

Why do you need a KB limit?

Application forms, government portals, classified sites and email systems often impose limits such as “at most 100 KB” or “at most 2 MB”. This tool tries quality levels with a binary search and finds the highest quality that stays under your limit.

Step by step

  1. Drop the photo above.
  2. The output format is preset to JPG; enter your limit (KB) in the “Target file size” box.
  3. Start converting; the result size is shown on the card.

If the limit cannot be reached

If the limit cannot be reached even at very low quality, the option “Also reduce image dimensions if needed” lowers the resolution step by step. If you turn it off, resolution is kept and the tool tells you it used the lowest quality.

Some documents (ID, signature or biometric photos) also require exact pixel dimensions; use “Fit in a box” or “Fill and crop” in the Resize section for that.

Frequently asked questions

Will the image look bad at 100 KB?
It depends on the resolution. A large photo squeezed to 100 KB loses quality; the tool lowers quality first and only then the size. Use the Compare button to check the result.
Can I shrink a PNG to a KB limit?
Target size works for JPG, WebP and AVIF. PNG is lossless, so convert to JPG or WebP first to hit a limit.
Is my photo uploaded?
No, everything happens in your browser.
